Overview
Recording audio through a Flash application involves both the Operating System’s and Flash’s microphone settings. In this guide, we provide you with steps to check your microphone settings and adjust your control panel settings.

1. Preparation
Click the Start menu.
Click Control Panel (maybe under Settings).
Open Sound and Audio Devices.
Make sure that the “Place volume icon in the taskbar” is checked.
Click OK.
2. Mute system microphone feedback
Double click on the speaker icon in the taskbar to open Volume Control.
Under the Options menu choose Properties.
Under “Show the following volume controls” make sure that the Microphone is checked.
Click OK.
Under the volume slider labeled Microphone, check Mute.
3. Show system microphone level slider
Still in Volume Control:
Under the Options menu choose Properties.
Under “Adjust volume for” choose Recording.
Under “Show the following volume controls” make sure that the Microphone is checked.
Click OK.
Under the volume slider labeled Microphone, make sure that Select is checked.
Set the Microphone volume slider to the center.
Move this window to the side and leave it open.
4. Show Flash volume slider
Open a Record / Compare activity. They are activities found in the Web-SAM, under the heading of “Pronunciación” with the names: “Práctica”, “Refranes”, “Dictado”, or “Refranes.”
If a prompt appears titled “Microphone Access Denied”, follow the instructions. (Settings, privacy tab, click allow.)
Right-click on the Flash object itself, and choose Settings.
Click on the microphone tab, 4th from left.
Set the Record Volume slider to the middle.
5. Adjust the microphone recording levels
Speak into the microphone in a full voice and observe the volume indicator.
Adjust the Record Volume slider as you speak until the volume indicator hits the yellow region, about 1 tick below the top.
Click Close.
Record a response to a question by clicking an item in the list, then clicking Record.
Click Your Recording to hear your response. It should be approximately the same volume as the example.
6. Troubleshooting
Slider movements below are approximately ¼ of the total slider length.
