Instructor-Generated Content (IGC) activity types are functionally designed to be accessible. However, it is possible that content entered (or not included) by an instructor could make a specific IGC activity non-compliant if:
- an image reference is added sans alt text (there isn't a way to do so currently)
- an audio prompt or audio reference is added w/out transcript or if transcripts are off for the course
- a linked YouTube or Vimeo video has no CC/subtitles
- content in an activity item (not the direction lines) does not use the target language, eg. use of English in a Spanish program. Language tagging in the activity will instruct a screenreader to read in the target language, hence resulting in the screenreader reading it incorrectly.
Instructor-Generated Content (IGC) Planned 2026 Updates
These additional accessibility supports for instructors creating IGC are planned to release in February 2026:
- alt text and long descriptions for images
- audio prompts and audio references with instructor-added transcript will be accompanied by a warning when the transcripts setting is not enabled in the course
- language tagging for bilingual content
